A big thank you goes to Barnsole Junior School in Gillingham who donated the amazing sum of £500 to the Kent Deaf Children's Society. Thank you all very much, we are very grateful.

 

Kent Deaf Youth Group at the NDCS National Council



Over the weekend of 27th & 28th September, the annual NDCS National Council was held in Kensington, London. This is a chance for representatives of the local DCS groups to meet and share information, and of course the KDCS were also there.

The NDCS recognised the success of the Kent Deaf Youth Group and
pictured above are James, Charlotte and Jade who were interviewed by Tyron Woolfe, (NDCS Deputy Director UK Services - Children and Youth) who explained to a large audience all about the KDYG.

A big well done to James, Charlotte and Jade.

KDCS '100 Club' Winners

Our second draw was made on Friday 12th September at the KDCS Children of Achievement Awards at County Hall, Maidstone.

KDCS would like to thank Cheriton Primary School in Folkestone for their recent sponsored silence.
This raised the amazing amount of £400 for the KDCS, thank you so much to all involved.

KDCS Awareness Week - Thank you!

for raising £180 for the KDCS.

            KDCS Sibling Signing Group

KDCS are looking to start another sibling signing group and want to know if your children are interested in attending.

Rules:
You must be the brother/sister/relative of close friend of a Deaf child who is a KDCS member
You must be over 8 years old
You must be able to commit to attend the course.
Cost will be about £30 per family ( not per child attending!)

Course will involve the CACDP BSL Level 1 assessments and run over 6-9 months.

We want to know if you are interested in coming and what day, time and venue is best for you.

Stage 1 of Level 1 BSL for young deaf people at school is now complete and we are waiting for the results on the exams for their first module. My Language aims to encourage Deaf children to take up BSL as an academic subject which they can gain nationally recognised qualifications in.
Most of them already have the Signing skills to complete at least level one with just a little support.
